LSCB ANNUAL SAFEGUARDING CONFERENCE - FRIDAY 26th MARCH 2010
Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children requires effective coordination and partnership working in every local area. For this reason, the Children Act 2004 requires each local authority to establish a Local Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB) with an independent chair person. The LSCB is the key statutory mechanism for agreeing how the relevant organisations in each local area will work together to safeguard and promote the welfare of children.
The LSCB Safeguarding Children conference took place at Cowes Yacht Haven on Friday 26 March 2010 from 0900 – 3.30pm. Keynote speakers included Professor Jan Horwath (BA Hons App.Soc Stud CQSW). Jan is a professor of child welfare and has specialised in research and writing child welfare policy and practice as well as professional education in social care.
